The business was started by J W (Bill) Turner in the early 1960’s. His family were jewellers and watchmakers in Blackburn from the late 19th century and they made railway clocks as well as having a jewellers shop in the town.
Bill devoted a lot of his spare time to officiating as an RAC Timekeeper on rallies and was on the RAC Timekeeping Committee. He was also a leading member of Lancashire Automobile Club.
Bill died suddenly whilst returning from timekeeping on a rally in October 1982 and the business was taken over by Brian Snape who had helped Bill Turner on events previously.
Brian then ran the business, was out timekeeping and also sat on the MSA timekeeping advisory panel until early 2009 when, due to illness, he sold the clocks and business to Russell Smith of Rally Support & Services Limited.
Following in his predecessors footsteps, Russell has been appointed by the MSA to certify clocks in classes Rally and E/B. Russell is also involved in rallying in many ways as a competitor and organiser.
